Parent Struggle (“the app”) helps families assign and track chores and tasks. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Who can see your information
Your family's information is private to your family. It's visible only to the people the family's admin has invited and who have joined with an invite code. We don't sell your information, show ads, or share it with anyone for advertising or tracking.
Information we collect
- Account information: the email address and password you use to sign up. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us or to other family members.
- Family information: your family's name, and each member's name, role (parent or child), and email address. For people who were invited, it also includes the phone number or email address the invite was sent to.
- Tasks: task titles, notes, due dates and times, and whether and when each task was completed.
- Other calendars: if a parent adds a calendar link (for example a school or team calendar), the link and the events read from it are stored so the family can see them in the app. Removing the calendar deletes its events.
- Calendar subscription link: if the admin turns on "Subscribe in Calendar", a private link lets your family's calendar apps show the chore list. The admin can replace the link at any time so old copies stop working.
- Photos: profile photos that the family admin chooses to add. Photos are reduced to a small thumbnail before they're stored.
- Contacts: when the admin taps “Choose from Contacts,” iOS shares only the single contact they pick. The app doesn't read or upload your contact list.
The app doesn't collect your location, advertising identifiers, or browsing history.
How information is used
Information is used only to run the app. That means showing tasks to the right family members, syncing them across your family's devices, sending invites, and showing reminders.
Notifications
Task reminders are scheduled on your own device. Their content stays on the device.
Alerts about family activity (a new task, a finished task, or someone joining) are sent as push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service. To deliver them, the app stores a push token for each device you're signed in on. It's removed when you sign out or delete your account. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's Settings.
Where information is stored
Information is stored with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), and protected by security rules that limit access to members of your family. See Firebase's privacy information.
Children
Parent Struggle is designed to be set up and managed by a parent. A parent (the family admin) creates the family, adds children, and controls their tasks and profile photos. Child accounts can only view and complete their own tasks. Parents can remove a child from the family, or delete a child's profile and tasks, at any time.
Deleting your information
- Delete your account: in the app, open My Account and tap Delete Account. This permanently deletes your login and your family membership.
- If you're the family admin, deleting your account permanently deletes the whole family, including all kids, tasks, photos, members, and invites.
- The admin can also remove any member, or delete a kid and their tasks, from inside the app.
